Picture Jasper
Picture Jasper is a remarkable form of opaque, microcrystalline quartz characterized by its unique "scenic" patterns. These landscape-like images are formed by petrified mud and mineral inclusions (mostly iron oxides) that were trapped in the silica flow during its formation millions of years ago. Due to its high silica content and density, it takes a very high polish, revealing intricate details that often resemble ancient desert dunes, mountains, or forests.
