Selenite

Selenite is named after Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, and is a transparent version of gypsum, with a distinctive glassy lustre and silky fibres, also known as Mary's glass. It is an extremely soft crystal, rated 1.5 to 2 on the Mohs hardness scale, which means that it is very susceptible to mechanical damage and can be scratched with a fingernail.
